Privacy Policy

Information used by KnightRoute

KnightRoute's service retrieves and stores public shuttle information, such as bus positions and vehicle identifiers, routes, stops, public arrival estimates, and the public occupancy or capacity readings shown in the transit feed. This is information about the shuttle service, not about an individual rider.

The current app code does not ask riders for a name, home address, or UCF account credentials, and it does not provide rider accounts.

Optional location

Location access is optional. In the iOS app, if you choose the location feature, iOS asks for permission and the app uses the device's location on the device to center the map. The current iOS code does not send your coordinates to the KnightRoute API.

In the browser app, choosing “My location” asks the browser for permission and saves the last coordinates in that browser on your device for nearby-stop suggestions. Those coordinates are not sent to the KnightRoute API. You can deny permission or clear the saved location in the app.

Service providers and network data

When you load this website, Cloudflare Pages delivers the page and may process technical connection information such as your IP address, requested URL, and request time to provide and protect the service. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Maps rely on third-party map services. The browser map uses OpenFreeMap, and the iOS app uses Apple MapKit. These providers receive the requests needed to show map tiles; those requests can reveal the area being viewed and technical connection information. Review OpenFreeMap's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy for their practices.

When the app requests shuttle information, the KnightRoute API and its hosting/network providers process the request and ordinary connection data needed to deliver and secure it. The app does not send your optional location coordinates with those requests.

Storage and choices

The browser app stores an optional location locally on your device if you use “My location.” The iOS app stores favorites and any access token you enter in the device's local app storage. An access token, if required by a server, is sent with API requests. You can remove saved items or the token in app settings, clear browser storage, or uninstall the app.

KnightRoute does not need location permission to show routes, stops, or shuttle information. You can manage location permission in your browser or iOS settings.

Children, security, and changes

KnightRoute is a general transit information project and is not designed to collect information from children. Reasonable safeguards are used to protect the service, but no internet service can guarantee perfect security.

This policy may change as the app develops. The updated date above will change when revisions are posted. The app's actual data practices should be reviewed again before a public app release.
